Facing a clogged drain or a toilet backup?

You can easily solve most plumbing problems with a little bit of elbow grease.

Drains
Sink and shower drains clog from time to time, as debris is flushed through the system. You can get your drains working again by cleaning out the pipes. Visit a local home or hardware store to see what cleaning tools they have available.

Many tenants find success using plastic cleaning tools to snare clogs in the pipe and pull them out. You can also try liquid cleaners, but only use those that are certified safe for plumbing systems.

Toilets
Facing a toilet clog? Locate your plunger and use it to push the clog through the system. Be careful not to flood your bathroom by flushing the toilet while the basin is full of water.

If you lose electrical power in your property, call your utility provider. Your electric company should be able to help you troubleshoot the issue and offer guidance to get everything fixed.

Is your hot water heater not working properly? Locate the tank and check the settings on the side. Is everything accurate?

If you make any changes, wait 15 to 20 minutes before testing the water temperature again.

If your heating or air conditioning isn't working properly, locate your home's central thermostat and check the settings. Does everything look right? Reset the system if possible to attempt to restore the defaults.
